Kimberley Quest II Powers Up with New Volvo Penta Engines for 2026

Kimberley Quest II, a premium custom-built vessel offering small-group adventure cruises through Western Australia’s breathtaking Kimberley region, has been fitted with brand-new Volvo Penta engines ahead of the 2026 season.

The vessel is now powered by D13 six-cylinder engines, renowned for fuel efficiency and low emissions. Fully compliant with IMO Tier II emissions standards, the upgrade is expected to deliver up to a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and significantly reduce environmental footprint.

The engines were sourced by Ches Power Group (CPG), a trusted Australian distributor and dealer of world-class mechanical and electrical products for heavy-duty, off-highway applications in the marine industry and beyond.

Kimberley Quest is a multi-award-winning cruise operator showcasing the beauty of WA’s otherworldly Kimberley region with scenic cruises that range from four to 21 nights. The company is part of the Pinnacle Travel Group portfolio, which also delivers experiences through The Great Escape Charter Co, Rottnest Fast Ferries, Whale Watching Perth, Lancelin 4x4 Adventures and more.

Luke Crispin, Founding Director of Pinnacle Travel Group, said: “We are excited to commence our latest cruise season with the reliability and backing of Volvo Penta and CPG. Operating in the remoteness of the Kimberley region, reliability and fuel usage is vital to the ongoing success and sustainability of Kimberley Quest in providing bespoke experiences. This new partnership cements PTG’s dedication to the long-term success and growth of Western Australia’s marine and tourism industries.”

Equipped with the new Volvo Penta engines and following a full galley refit, Kimberley Quest II is primed for another fantastic season of unforgettable adventures.

The 2026 season starts on 17th February with a 21-day cruise which offers one of the most extensive itineraries in the region, providing ample time to explore the vast Kimberley coastline during the spectacular waterfall season.

Brand-new for this year is the 11 Day Exploration Quest, which will set sail on two departures in July to explore highlights of the region, including Horizontal Falls, Montgomery Reef and the Buccaneer Archipelago.

The 25-metre vessel accommodates just 18 guests and seven crew members, allowing the crew to tailor each cruise to guest preferences. Fully air-conditioned and equipped with a helipad, spa and large ensuite cabins, guests experience some of the most remote locations on Earth in stylish and intimate surrounds.

CPG also sourced and maintain the Humphree Interceptors fitted in both Rottnest Fast Ferries vessels, including Ocean Master, a new state-of-the-art 32-metre catamaran that launched into service in December 2024.

Crispin added: “Mike and the team at CPG have been maintaining our vessel engines and gearboxes ever since we acquired Rottnest Fast Ferries. They offer unrivalled service – they make sure you get exactly the right product and are always there to support and advise.

“Working with CPG gives us the comfort of knowing that if anything goes wrong at any time, we can pick up the phone.”
